The historic Monarch Theatre is hosting a local artist for an evening of stories, art and local heritage Thursday night.
Medicine Hat artist Jim Marshall, known for his brick murals and pen-and-ink drawings, is the featured speaker at “Medicine Hat In His Mind’s Eye: The Memories of Jim Marshall,” a family-friendly event reflecting on a life of creative work in the city.
Marshall will share stories about the neighbourhoods, coulees and public artworks that define Medicine Hat’s streetscape, with moderator Brian Konrad of the Bring Back the Porch podcast.
The speaking portion will be followed by a community Q&A.
The free event is presented by the Historical Society of Medicine Hat & District. Tickets are not required, but optional historical society memberships will be available for purchase at the door for $10.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
