The Medicine Hat Police Service is looking for a male suspect caught on several home surveillance cameras slashing parked car tires and causing exterior damage in the early morning hours Sunday.

Police say between 4:30 and 5:10 a.m. on March 15 a man vandalized several parked vehicles in the 600 block of Fifth Street SW and then continued on foot to the 400 block of Fifth Street SE.

MHPS have released two surveillance videos on its Facebook page captured by home security systems in hopes of identifying the man.

In the first video the suspect can be seen walking up to a vehicle before he stops to kneel over near the rear passenger tire for a moment before walking away. Details of the subject are hard to make out due to a lack of light.

The second video provides a closer view of the suspect as he is seen running past a parked car before stopping at the driver’s side and puncturing the tire with an object before running out of frame.

This video time stamped at 5:08 a.m. also provides a more detailed look at the suspect who is seen to be wearing a dark hoodie or jacket, jeans and dark coloured boots, although details are still difficult to make out due to the lack of lighting and the suspect’s movements.

Anyone with information related to these offences is asked to contact police by calling 403-529-8481, or anonymously online by visiting mhps.ca.
