Robert Grisonich, Wade Petersen and Wes King-Hunter have been named Medicine Hat’s 2026 Sports Wall of Fame inductees.

City councillors approved the motion Monday to induct the three individuals who will be recognized at a ceremony held at the Big Marble Go Centre at a future date still to be determined.

The three individuals were selected following a review of nominations and criteria by members of the Community Vibrancy Advisory Board.

Grisonich has been recognized for his contributions to local volleyball and basketball, Petersen for his contributions to boxing and King-Hunter for his contributions to volleyball.

Last year there were no inductees to the Sports Wall of Fame. Most recently Sensei Zorislav Krco and Joseph Fisher became the 33rd and 34th inductees into the Wall of Fame in 2024.

Krco had a 48-year karate career that has included attaining the 8th Dan rank, one of the highest attainable ranks one can achieve.

Fisher, who passed away in 2002, is regarded as the first Medicine Hat hockey player to join the NHL and win a Stanley Cup, doing so with the 1943 Detroit Red Wings.
