The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is abuzz with the opportunity to help emerging bumble bees with their upcoming craft project. “When queen bumble bees emerge in the spring, they will be looking for a safe place to call home for this season,” said park interpreter Genevieve Mathieu. This is why, as part of a citizen science project spearheaded by the Alberta Native Bee Council, MHIP is inviting residents to come and make Bee Boxes. For $20 per box, to help cover the cost of tools and supplies, participants will create their own bee box, which they will be able to take home with care instructions. The program will run starting at 2 p.m. on March 15. As space is limited, those interested are asked to call 403-529-6225 or visit the Nature Centre to secure their seat. 6
