MLA recall petitions failing as bulk due in coming weeks

As deadlines draw near for various recall petitions across the province, several initiatives have proven to be unsuccessful.

As of writing, petitions against MLAs Demetrios Nicolaides, Angela Pitt, Rajan Sawhney, Myles McDougall, Dale Nally and Jason Stephan have all fallen short of the required number of signatures required to trigger the next stage of the recall process.

Additionally, the recall petition for Searle Turton was rescinded on the grounds of privacy concerns.

To date, no finished petition has reached the required number of signatures. With 10 different petitions due to submit collected signatures on Monday and more still reaching their deadline within the next week, it is yet unclear if this will change.

Recall petitions for Premier and Brooks-Medicine Hat MLA Danielle Smith and Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Justin Wright are due on Mar. 10 and Mar. 23, respectively.
