Police issue public warning in parking ticket scam

Medicine Hat police have issued a public warning after receiving several complaints from residents over the past couple of days regarding a text message about an overdue parking ticket.

Police say complainants have been receiving text messages with a link to an Alberta Municipality payment portal stating they have outstanding parking tickets and can pay by clicking the link.

Officers want to advise residents this is a scam and not to click the link and not to provide credit card information.

Police say if you receive one of these messages to delete the text.
