newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Registration has opened for the final free session of a five-part series hosted by the city in collaboration with Volunteer Alberta aimed at providing education on volunteerism and inspiring more people to give back to their communities. The volunteerism learning series titled “Rooted in Action” will conclude Mar. 3 with a free morning workshop called “Learning to Unlearn Volunteerism” that will be held in person at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre. The last workshop will provide participants tools to help “unlearn” outdated habits within volunteerism and embrace new ways of thinking that can be used to attract, recruit, retain and recognize volunteers. “This may transform how we use volunteerism as an important recourse to strengthen organizations in our community,” reads an overview. Hatters are able to register for the free in-person workshop, 9:30 a.m. to noon, by visiting tixx.ca.
