Thirty-nine South Country Co-op locations across the region are launching Monday the annual “Communities in Mind” fundraiser in support of local mental health.

The campaign kicked off in 2021 with a single Co-op, and has expanded over five years to include four more Co-ops.

The fundraiser asks customers to purchase one of the paper hearts that will be available at South Country Co-op, and leave a name or a message. These hearts will be displayed for the duration of the campaign.

Donors can also elect to simply leave a donation.

This year, South Country Co-op is looking to raise $25,000. All funds raised as part of the campaign will be distributed back within the South Country Co-op trading area through organizations that support mental health initiatives.

“This campaign will be a true reflection of the compassion and generosity of our community members who understand the importance of mental health supports, and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” said Carmen Hudson, VP of brand development and facilities at South Country Co-op.

South Country Co-op has 55 locations in 21 communities throughout southern Alberta.
