Residents living within two time-restricted parking zones downtown will be able to pick up new parking permits Feb. 16.

The city announced the pickup date Thursday, saying current permits are set to expire at the end of February.

The two designated residential areas downtown requiring passes include a section on Fifth Street SE between Fourth and Sixth avenues and a block of properties along First and Second streets from Second to Fourth Avenue.

Residents are able to submit applications online, or apply in person at the Municipal Works office along Kipling Street beginning Feb. 16 from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Fridays.

Applicants are asked to bring a valid driver’s licence and current vehicle registration for each vehicle requiring a parking permit.

Permits will only be issued for vehicles registered to eligible addresses within the designated area. Additionally, each household is also eligible for one visitor permit parking pass.
