Kevin Ramsdale, 38, faces several charges, including intent to cause an explosion, following a lengthy standoff with Brooks RCMP officers Wednesday at a home on Ingram Park Drive.
Members of the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and the Crisis Negotiation Team were deployed to assist officers in Brooks who responded to a report of an intoxicated man causing significant damage inside a residence with a weapon.
Following several attempts at communication made by officers, Ramsdale allegedly became increasingly agitated and barricaded himself inside the home, refusing to comply with police commands.
RCMP took to social media asking the public to avoid the area due to a heavy police presence on scene.
Following numerous demands for the suspect to surrender, officers were able to eventually arrest Ramsdale and end the standoff.
Ramsdale has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, intent to cause explosion and mischief.
Ramsdale has been remanded into custody after appearing before a Justice of the Peace and was in court Thursday.
