newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Health Foundation is calling on Hatters to help them reach a funding goal as its 18-month fundraising event Seconds Saves Lives winds down this month. The campaign is looking to raise $1.2 million to replace and upgrade aging cardiac care equipment at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. The foundation is $400,000 away from its goal. The last pot of funding will be used to upgrade monitors for the hospital’s surgical and recovery suites. Having the same style of monitors throughout the hospital also allows for easier patient transport, as equipment can be brought between departments – like from emergency to a surgical suite – instead of changing machines just for the move. MHHF says reliable heart monitors are a first line of support in patient care. “As any doctor, nurse, or aide will tell you there is simply no equivalent to having a fully functional, reliable heart monitor where it is needed,” reads a MHHF release from Monday.
