The Unison at Veiner Centre will partner with Medicine Hat Family Service to hold an information session aimed at boosting mood and energy over the winter months.

The Wellbeing Workshop titled “Beating the Winter Blues” runs Feb. 11 in the Veiner Centre boardroom, and will provide participants with practical strategies that can be used during the shorter days of winter.

“Whether you’re looking for new strategies, or simply a space to connect and reflect, this workshop offers a welcoming environment for learning and conversation,” reads a promotional ad.

The workshop will run 2:15-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 11. To register visit the Veiner Centre’s reception desk, or call 403-529-8307.

The Veiner Centre will also continue offering wellness sessions on the fourth Wednesday of each month this year.

Wellness Wednesday matinee movie

To continue the theme of wellness the Veiner Centre is hosting a free matinee movie next Wednesday in the Crafts Room.

On Feb. 4 the Veiner Centre will screen the movie “P.S. I Love You” from 2-4 p.m. for members and non-members, and will provide free popcorn to enjoy during the film.

The 2007 romantic comedy stars Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler and is based on messages a widowed wife receives following the death of her husband.

Friendship Games Night for free

Next Saturday the Veiner Centre is hosting a friendly competitive Friendship Games Night that will include puzzles, giant yard games and other fun competitions.

The free event runs Feb. 7 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and will include a cash bar.

Paint night

Christy the Paintergirl will return to the Veiner Centre on Feb. 19 to host another round of paint night.

The evening includes all supplies and is aimed for both experienced painters or new artists, who will be provided a guided painting by Christy in a relaxing and creative atmosphere.

Registration for the workshop is required but is open to both members and non-members.

“Grab a brush, enjoy the atmosphere and create something you’ll be proud to take home,” reads a promotional ad.

The event runs 6-9 p.m. in the Crafts Room and costs $35 for members or $40 for non-members.

The Veiner Centre says spaces are limited to a maximum of 20 participants. To register visit the reception desk, or call 403-529-8307.

Valentine’s dinner tickets sold out

The Veiner Centre says all tickets to its Valentine’s Date Night have sold out, adding that scammers have been trying to sell tickets over social media.

“Please do not purchase tickets to a sold-out event via comments on social media,” reads a public statement issued by the Veiner Centre. “More often than not, it’s a scammer with ill intention.”

The Veiner Centre is asking anyone who may have purchased a ticket but can no longer attend to contact staff to pass the ticket on.

The themed dinner with live music runs in two sittings Feb. 13.
