Crews trimming trees in River Flats for next few weeks

From now through February city crews will actively trim trees in the River Flats neighbourhood that have grown too close to power lines.

The work is performed annually to ensure trees encroaching on power lines do not present a safety hazard, and to avoid potential power outages.

The work is also part of a provincial requirement that trees be planted away from power poles and their branches maintained.

The city is asking residents to give crews the required space needed to work safely.
