newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com RCMP have issued a warrant for the arrest of Subham Sighn, 28, who lived in Medicine Hat last August but has since left Canada, and who was allegedly involved in a fatal hit and run collision outside Tilley last summer. In the early morning hours last Aug. 25 Brooks RCMP responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Highway 1 near Range Road 131 and discovered a damaged vehicle and a deceased person on the side of the road, identified as Christoper Roger, 30, from Andrew, Alta. Through an investigation with Brooks RCMP and MHPS a possible suspect was identified in Medicine Hat and police seized a Volkswagen Jetta from a home. DNA evidence belonging to Roger was found in the Jetta during a forensic examination which led to the accusation that Singh was the driver of the other vehicle involved in the highway collision. According to police, Singh left the county in the following days. A warrant has now been issued for his arrest. Singh has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death. “Brooks RCMP would also like to remind the public that the driver of a conveyance involved in a collision is required by the Criminal Code of Canada to remain at the scene of an accident to render aid to injured and to provide their name and address. Failure to do so could result in provincial or criminal charges,” reads the press release. Police say information gathered from the public greatly assisted in the investigation. 9
