newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Next month Medicine Hat College students will collaborate with the Medicine Hat Health Foundation to raise donations for the annual PJs for a Purpose fundraiser. The fundraiser, marking its third year, is a student-led initiative to raise enough money to complete new themed rooms in the pediatric unit at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. So far the fundraiser has been able to create two new themed rooms for sick kids. On Feb. 6, Sport and Event Marketing and Management students will ask local businesses and schools to donate $5 for each participating individual. The donors are encouraged to wear pyjamas to their school or workplace. “What a great opportunity to go to work or school in comfortable clothes and make a difference to a child in a hospital at the same time,” said Heather Bach, executive director with the Medicine Hat Health Foundation. This year students are hoping to raise $5,000 to help fund the creation of a comforting and imaginative space for children during their hospital stay. “We’re excited to partner with our local communities as we work to bring light, creativity and joy to the kids who need it most,” said Asia McCulloch, third-year student. “Our program sees this as a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community while gaining the real-world, in-person experience that will shape our future careers. 9
