Chad Jensen, 46, of Brooks is facing several charges related to human trafficking following a nearly year long investigation.
Mounties in Brooks arrested Jensen on Jan. 8 after an investigation that began in February 2025 after RCMP received a report for a female victim who said she was in a relationship with Jensen and that he allegedly forced her to have multiple sexual encounters with random men for money, which he both controlled and orchestrated.
Immediately after the report was received, members of the RCMP’s General Investigation Section working in collaboration with its Human Trafficking co-ordinator, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Human Trafficking Unit and the RCMP’s Interview Assistance Team began the investigation.
A search warrant was executed at a home in Brooks on March 25, 2025 in reaction to the investigation and officers seized various illegal substances, electronics and paraphernalia. No arrests were made at this time.
On Jan. 8, following almost a year-long investigation, officers arrested Jensen, who has been charged with trafficking in persons, trafficking in persons and receiving material benefit, two counts of sexual assault, assault, distributing intimate images and two counts of administering noxious thing.
“Human trafficking and related offences such as this are serious in nature and always have lasting negative impacts on involved victims and the community,” said St. Sgt. Rob Harms. “The involved investigators in this case conducted a meticulous and time-consuming investigation ensuring the offender was brought to justice and held accountable.”
Brooks RCMP believe there may be more victims and have released Jensen’s photo to the public. Police are asking anyone who believes they have been exploited or trafficked by Jensen to come.
“We have resources available to help you,” reads a press release. Anyone with information about Jensen is asked to contact the Brooks RCMP detachment at 403-362-5535, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
“Human trafficking can affect any community, regardless of the size and demographic,” said Sgt. Roland Misik, RCMP human trafficking co-ordinator. “Perpetrators of this crime seek out the most vulnerable people in society and use the vulnerability against them to gain control, not just physically but psychologically making it extremely difficult for the victim to realize they are being manipulated and exploited.”
Following a judicial interim release hearing Jensen remains in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on Feb. 11 in the Alberta Court of Justice in Brooks.
