The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission is accepting requests for expanded liquor service hours ahead of the Olympic Games.

The upcoming Winter Olympic Games kick off Feb. 6 in Milano, Italy, an eight-hour time difference from Mountain Time.

Alberta establishments holding Class A, B and C liquor licences can submit notice starting immediately to expand their hours of liquor service for medal rounds for all Olympic sporting events.

In order to qualify for the expanded hours, the licensee cannot be open for a full 24 hours, and the establishment must be closed for at least one hour before the event and one hour after the event during expanded hours. The establishment also must offer a food menu based on licence type.

Licensees must provide notice at least three working days of notice before the event.

In order to submit notice, licensees should submit their full operating name and licensing number to inspections.mailbox@algc.ca.
