Yard waste collection resumes in early April

The city’s green cart organic waste collection program will resume April 6, city committee members were told during a public meeting Thursday.

City crews will begin collecting both grey garbage carts and green carts on the same day in each collection zone, which can be found daily in the News on Page A3.

Blue carts for recycling will continue to be collected by a contracted company following the same schedule.

On average Medicine Hat homeowners pay $0.59 per day for waste removal services.

Snow removal

City staff say they are actively working on snow and ice control operations for all roads and sidewalks.

Depending on the temperature the city uses different types of granular materials used to clear both roads and the city’s trail network with the collaboration of parks and reaction staff.

First Street road construction update

Members of the development and infrastructure committee also heard crews will be needed to complete surface restorations along First Street that are expected to be complete by early spring.
