Medicine Hat Catholic school tour dates announced

Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to visit local Catholic schools and meet educators and staff during open houses and school tours announced Tuesday.

Dates for open houses, tours and drop-ins have been released for each school within the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education, allowing parents to explore schools before choosing where to send their children to school.

Beginning Jan. 22, St. Mary’s junior high will host a self-guided tour and scavenger hunt from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and St. Francis Xavier elementary will host an all-day drop-in open house from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On Jan. 26 Notre Dame Academy and École St. John II will welcome families. From 6-8 p.m. Notre Dame Academy will host a presentation in its gymnasium that will include a guided tour. École St. John II is welcoming families to join a morning assembly at 8:45 a.m. that will be followed by a school tour. École St. John II will also be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for drop-in tours.

St. Micheal’s and St. Louis elementaries are asking parents to call to book a tour. St. Micheal’ will host tours Jan. 28 and can be reached at 403-527-7242. St. Louis will host tours Jan. 28-30 and can be reached at 403-527-7411.

St. Patrick’s School will host a presentation with a guided tour Feb. 2, 7-8 p.m.

Mother Teresa School is asking parents to book tours from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Feb. 4 and 5 by calling 403-529-2000.

Monsignor McCoy High School is hosting a presentation and tour Feb. 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Additionally, the community is also invited to an information session and presentation on the new Holy Trinity Academy at Holy Family Parish from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 11.

Families of current students attending Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education schools should receive online registration forms for the 2026-27 school year via email beginning in the last week of January.

Pink Shirt Day

This year MHCBE is offering students and families the opportunity to purchase a ‘special line’ of Pink Shirt Day clothing items and accessories online through the division’s online “Faith Shop.”

Eighteen pink coloured items ranging from shirts, hoodies, stickers and bags are for sale that have been designed to reflect the division’s core values and are encouraged to be worn next month on Pink Shirt Day, recognized as a day to stand against bullying while promoting kindness.

Shirts and hoodies can be purchased with messages including “Love like Jesus,” “You are fearfully and wonderfully made,” and “Let all that you do be done in love,” ranging in price from $20-$50.

The online shop is open to staff, students, families and anyone who feels compelled to wear the designs. Orders placed by Feb. 1 will be ready Feb. 13, leading up to Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 25.
