An Alberta cabinet minister is attending a two-day event in Montana where he will deliver a keynote address and meet with officials to discuss opportunities to enhance power grid reliability.

Nathan Neudorf, minister of affordability and utilities, is currently visiting neighbouring Montana to attend its Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Days at the Capitol, which wraps up Wednesday.

Along with delivering a keynote address, Neudorf will seek solutions to address shared power infrastructure challenges to grid modernization with neighbouring jurisdiction.

“Meeting rising electricity demands means looking beyond our borders,” said Neudorf. “Powering up our electrical tires with Montana is about building a strong foundation for shared energy security, while ensuring that the electricity Albertans depend on remains reliable and affordable for generations.”

A press release Monday also says Neudorf will promote Alberta as an economic “destination of choice: for both investors and innovators,” and will highlight the province’s growing sectors including data centres and plans to convert to nuclear energy.

Neudorf will return to Alberta on Wednesday. A list of expenses will be posted on the province’s travel and expense disclosure page.
