Medicine Hat police seek information following robbery

Officers are seeking information from nearby businesses and passing motorists who may have witnessed or recorded a robbery beneath the Allowance Avenue overpass on Boxing Day.

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Dec. 26 police responded to a report of a personal robbery after a 36-year-old man was allegedly approached by Matthew Perini, 35, who stole the victim’s backpack containing personal items.

Police say they have identified Perini as the suspect and have issued a warrant for his arrest.

Perini is facing charges of armed robbery and assault with a weapon.

Officers are requesting to review any closed-circuit television footage from businesses located in the 900 block of S. Railway Street, and are asking motorists who were travelling on S. Railway around 7:50 p.m. to examine any dash-cam recording for material that may be relevant to the ongoing investigation.
