No Christmas is the same as we gather, celebrate and enjoy the holiday.
It’s the 142nd Christmas for Medicine Hat, each Holiday Season bringing a new spirit. From days of bitter cold weather to June-like sun and warmth, families have gathered to take in the day and celebrate together.
Christmas brings an aspect of timelessness and timeliness, reconnecting with old friends, annual traditions, sharing time-tested recipes with one another and decorations that decorate homes inside and out.
There have also been challenges, war-time Christmases, pandemics separating families and friends and financial limitations applying heavy pressure throughout the season. But the Christmas spirit is changeless, hard times make good memories.
The News, celebrating its 141st Christmas is looking back at notable events from Medicine Hat’s history as we celebrated our 140th publishing year on Oct. 29.
Our staff will enjoy the Holiday Season with friends and family, not publishing again until Dec. 27. As we enjoy time with our loved ones, we hope you get to do the same.
