Plans for bigger-than-ever 2026 local Comic Con already underway

By Medicine Hat News on December 20, 2025.

The Medicine Hat Public Library is looking to the future and plans to level up 2026’s comic con with a dedicated artists’ alley.

Stephanie Kuhn, youth and community librarian at MHPL and the brain behind the city’s Comic Con, says being able to leave with mementos, collectibles and other goodies is a key feature of major Comic Cons.

As such, the third annual MHPL Comic Con will feature a dedicated Artist Alley for

local artists, crafters and creatives to sell their handmade and unique products.

“It’s one of the most well-attended and looked-forward-to aspects of Comic Cons, if you go to Calgary or Edmonton. I wanted to incorporate that kind of shopping experience in our Comic Con,” said Kuhn. Tables are available to register for online at a price of $20 a table, with limited space available.

Tables with Artist Alley vendors featuring products related to comics and pop culture fandoms, including movies, television and gaming, are preferred, says Kuhn. The event is set for May 6, giving prospective artists plenty of time to get ready for the big day.

Other details are still being worked on, but Kuhn says she is hoping to make each year of Library Comic Con bigger and better than the last and encourages residents to stay tuned for more information as the event approaches.
