Albertans can share their thoughts on budget priorities in 2026 as the province opened a public consultations website on Friday.

Until Jan. 15, 2026 residents can participate in the survey, which collects financial implications on previous budget decisions comparable to personal situations, and asks Albertans how much they support or oppose several areas of government funding.

The survey contains mostly multiple choice and drop-down questions, however it includes two areas to share written feedback, up to 500 characters.

Last year more than 6,500 Albertans completed the online survey and the province also received more than 100 written submissions from non-profit organizations, municipalities, chambers of commerce and individuals.

“We want to hear from Albertans across the province,” said Finance Minister Nate Horner. “Alberta’s government is working hard to create a budget that makes practical fiscal decisions and spends taxpayers dollars wisely.”

Horner will also host a telephone town hall for all Albertans on Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Last year more than 19,100 Albertans participated in the town hall by phone or online.

The province will also collect feedback from businesses, municipalities, community groups, industry organizations and other stakeholders before tabling the 2026 budget.

“Public consultation is a key part of Alberta’s budget process, ensuring that the voices of Albertans, business and community stakeholders directly inform the government’s fiscal priorities and decision-making for Budget 2026,” reads a press release.

The 2026 Budget will be released by Horner before the end of February. The survey can be found online at alberta.ca/budgetconsultation.
