Clarification: Shelter space available in the South Flats

A story on a hub outside city hall seeking to help the homeless in Wednesday’s paper may have caused some confusion on shelter space.

While the Allowance Avenue Mustard Seed’s impact centre did close earlier this year, the organization’s emergency shelter on Eighth Street in the South Flats remains open 24 hours a day.

No plans for a new permanent shelter location have been announced since a Mustard Seed application for a space on the outskirts of the city was withdrawn following public backlash.
