Three drivers have recently been found impaired behind the wheel in and around the Brooks area, leading to violation tickets, licence suspicions and vehicle seizures.

In the early morning hours Oct. 25, Mounties conducted an alcohol screening test on a suspicious driver, leading to ramifications.

Around 2:30 a.m. police observed a vehicle leaving the area of Fist Street W., and began following the vehicle, which immediately pulled over before all occupants attempted to walk away.

Officers ordered the individuals back into the vehicle to conduct further investigation, and a roadside mandatory alcohol screening test was conducted on the driver of the vehicle.

The driver’s breath sample resulted in a “caution” reading, and as a result the driver received a three-day driving suspension, a violation ticket and vehicle seizure.

The following morning, at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Oct. 26, Mounties conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was stopping in the middle of the road.

The driver refused to provide a sample when officers attempted to conduct mandatory screening and was issued an Immediate Roadside Sanction for refusal.

This carries the same penalties as providing “fail” reading, and the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, fine and vehicle seizure

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Brooks RCMP issued a 24-hour driving suspicion during a rural patrol in Tillebrook Provincial Park.

Before 5 a.m. RCMP located a vehicle in the parking lot appearing suspicious, upon further investigation, the driver showed signs of impairment and drug paraphernalia was in plain view.

The driver received a 24-hour driving suspicion and vehicle seizure.
