newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Taylor Labash, 29, and 34-year-old Jeremiah Amero are facing several charges after the two Medicine Hatters were arrested after evading police responding to the theft of a vehicle in the early morning hours Monday. Officers received a report of a stolen vehicle from a resident on Stapeford Crescent just before 1:30 a.m. and shortly discovered the stolen vehicle near Cocks Way. Upon arrival, Labash and Amero were spotted with the proximity of the stolen vehicle and once officers activated their emergency lights, the two individuals fled the scene on foot. Officers were able to apprehend both individuals, who were taken into custody. Police also recovered cash, various bank cards and weapons during the arrest. Both Labash and Amero were charged with resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and theft of a motor vehicle. Amero was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of breach of a firearm. Both Labash and Amero were held for judicial interim release hearings and Labash was released on a release order to appear back in count on Nov. 13. Amero was remanded into custody. Pedestrian seriously injured A pedestrian was rushed to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night in the NE. Police responded to the collision at 5 p.m. after a Ford Focus hit a person crossing the street at the intersection of Eighth Street NE and Division Avenue N. Following the collision, police asked the public to avoid the area as emergency crew worked to clear the scene and northbound traffic was detoured to Parkview Drive. Police have not said if any charges will be laid at this time, however they are continuing their investigation into the collision and are requesting witnesses or individuals with any information or video footage of the collision to contact the traffic unit at 403-529-8481. 15
