The eighth annual Coats on Finlay event saw tremendous success, with an estimated 2,000 coats distributed throughout the community.
Organizers Helen Snortland and Kym Porter expressed deep gratitude to the community for its generous spirit in ensuring so many pieces of winter clothing would make their way to those who need them. Special mention was made to the team at Winners as well as the Mustard Seed for their donations.
“We’d also like to shout out to those living unhoused as a number of them were there to help set up early as well as helped take down afterwards,” said Porter.
Very few of the pieces of winter gear remained when they returned to take leftovers on Sunday morning, but that which was still there will be stored at the Salvation Army Resource Centre and remain free to the community.
