Cypress County woman killed in head-on collision

A 53-year-old female resident of Cypress County was pronounced deceased on scene following a head-on collision between a Dodge Ram pickup truck and Ford Explorer on Thursday evening.

Redcliff RCMP responded to the fatal motor vehicle collision at 5:10 p.m. on Township Road 140 and Range Road 63.

An initial investigation revealed the Dodge Ram pickup truck was travelling east bound when the Ford Explorer, travelling west bound, lost control and veered into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was pronounced dead on scene while the driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for several hours Thursday evening to allow emergency crews to respond to the collision and conduct an investigation, and was reopened on Friday.
