Lukaszuk in town today in final push on Forever Canadian petition

By Medicine Hat News on October 17, 2025.

The Unity Bus will be in Medicine Hat for the first time today, an opening to the final week of the Forever Canadian petition.

Former deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk, who started the non-partisan petition to encourage Albertans to take a stand for the province’s place as a part of Canada, will be visiting Medicine Hat today. The petition asks, “Do you agree that Alberta should remain in Canada,” and finishes collecting signatures close to the end of October.

The Unity Bus will be in the city from 3-4:30 p.m. at 3090 Dunmore Rd, near Moxies on the green space, where Lukaszuk and volunteers will collect signatures and non-perishable food items for the food bank.

Anyone who wants to sign is encouraged to visit forever-canadian.ca/sign-the-petition. There are several sites available every day over the next week, in every area of Medicine Hat.
