Medicine Hat’s Nichole Neubauer is heading to Edmonton today to take her place in Alberta’s Order of Excellence.
The Lieutenant Governor as the King’s representative invests members into the Order in recognition for significant contributions to the province’s history and place on the grander stage. It is, according to Alberta’s government, the highest honour the Province of Alberta can bestow on a citizen and takes precedence over any other provincial honour or award.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to share your personal story and the things that you’ve done to contribute to the community,” Neubauer told the News on Wednesday.
Neubauer says the experience is still slightly surreal, even with the time she has had to process since getting the call in May.
“There’s some amazing Albertans that have been recognized in the past and the idea is that I will join some pretty high level company tomorrow, who had a profound impact on different areas, from health to education and entertainment,” said Neubauer. “I’m just feeling incredibly humbled to be part of that group.”
This comes in recognition of her work of more than 20 years contributing to agricultural education, both independently and in various partnerships throughout the region.
More information regarding today’s ceremony and Neubauer’s experience will be available in Saturday’s paper.
