newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The citizen initiative petition aiming to change provincial policy regarding the allocation of public funds to private schools will begin collecting signatures this week. More than 200 volunteers have already applied to be canvassers for the initiative. The first round of applications is now being processed, and the petition’s proponent Alicia Taylor says they should receive their credentials and begin collecting signatures later in the week. The initiative has also launched a website, ABFundsPublicSchools.ca, where information will be posted regularly regarding where petitions are located and how to apply to canvas for signatures. “We’re pushing for something in the neighbourhood of 2,000 canvassers, so anyone who wants to get involved is encouraged to do so, and the website is the best way to find that information,” said Taylor. 6
