The Bow Island Emergency Department is experiencing an unexpected personnel shortage and will temporarily close overnight. The closure is expected to last from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. starting Friday through the weekend. The clinic will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., returning to current weekday coverage on Monday. Physicians will be on site at the Emergency Department on Monday through Thursday from 8-11:30 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. for emergent patient and low acuity walk-ins, and be on-call for patients arriving between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for remaining acute care patients and long-term care residents. The Emergency Department expects it will return to weekend hours of 7 a.m. Fridays to 8 p.m. Mondays the following weekend. Alberta Health Services says it is actively recruiting for positions in the community at this time. 6
