The Medicine Hat Police Service has released a public notice, photo and warning regarding the release of 30-year-old Brady Deering, who has completed his provincial sentence for sexual assault, unlawful confinement and assault.

Deering is described as white male, 5-foot-3, 143 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and currently having a facial beard.

“The Medicine Hat Police Service is issuing this information after careful consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to make community members aware of the release of this high-risk offender,” reads a press release.

Police say their intent is to encourage residents to take “suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.”

Deering was released from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre on Monday and is subject to an 18-month probation order.

Deering is bound by court conditions, which include keeping peace, remaining in the province, attending professional counselling and treatment and no possession of weapons, alcohol, cannabis or any illegal drugs.

Deering is also not to have contact with certain persons and remains in constant contact with his probation officer.

Police released Deering’s information under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
