Suffield will begin controlled burning in October

CFB Suffield will conduct controlled burns at the start of next month.

The Canadian Forces Base in Suffield will run prescribed burns within the Suffield Range Training Area starting Oct. 1. Those controlled burns will run through the fall season, as conditions permit.

Nearby residents may observe smoke as a result, while any fires seen outside the perimeter of CFB Suffield should be reported to local fire agencies via 911.

CFB Suffield conducts routine prescribed burns under its Wildland Fuel Reduction Plan, to support safe training and maintain operational readiness. A release from the base says these activities are co-ordinated with Range Control, CFB Suffield Fire Hall and local stakeholders to help ensure public safety at all times.
