Wildfire east of Dunmore calls for evacuation alert, threatens residential homes

An Alberta Emergency Alert was issued Sunday for a wildfire east of Dunmore.

The alert, which was issued at 12:49 p.m., says the wildfire threatens residential homes and the Cavan Lake regional campground.

Officials called for evacuation for those in the immediate area south of Highway 1 and along Range Road 40.

Fire crews from Cypress County, Medicine Hat and Suffield were on the scene to battle the flames. Several civilian trucks and trailers with water tanks were also helping douse the flames.

HALO air ambulance says it’s responding to a “mutual aid request from Cypress County Fire Service.”
