Medicine Hat Mayor Linnsie Clark looks to keep her seat atop the council horseshoe.
The first-term mayor has filed her nomination package, joining the list of candidates running for mayor in the Oct. 20 municipal election. She joins current councillor Andy McGrogan, former MLA Drew Barnes, second-time candidate Alan Rose and local resident Mark Fisher as candidates for mayor.
Clark made headlines in 2024 after council removed most of her mayoral powers following an investigation into an allegation of misconduct. The tension at City Hall was the News‘ 2024 story of the year.
“Serving as your mayor for the past four years has not been without ups and downs, but through it all it has truly been an honour to represent you and your interests around the council table,” Clark said Friday in a post on her Facebook page.
Clark collected nearly two-thirds of the 19,800 votes casted in the 2021 Municipal Election to become the city’s first female mayor.
