Free online workshop offered to protect against frauds and scams

On Thursday, the Unison and Veiner Centre will present a free online presentation with experts from the Better Business Bureau and ATB Financial titled “Protecting yourself from financial fraud: what you need to know.”

The one-hour online session will include a presentation from Odeta Doroftei, manager and community education and outreach with BBB, as well as Florina Badger and Christine Mutagubya, branch managers with ATB Financial.

The speakers will present information and highlight real-world examples of financial frauds as well as offer practical tips to recognize and avoid frauds and scams, especially in today’s digital age.

The online workshop is free and begins at 10 a.m. on Sept. 11. Residents interested in joining the session are asked to sign up by clicking a link to eventbrite.ca found on the Unison at Veiner Centre’s Facebook page.
