Whodunnit Players staging one-night-only performance of Champagne Murder

By Medicine Hat News on September 5, 2025.

The Redcliff Legion is taking it back to the 1960s with Medicine Hat’s newest face on the theatre scene, in a one-night-only mystery.

The Champagne Murder, as put on by the city’s own Whodunnit Players, harks back to the era and energy of Austin Powers, as one detective and as many members of the audience as he can possibly deputize work to uncover the machinations behind the death of their host for the weekend.

The show will consist of both scripted scenes and improvised, interactive segments, in which those attending can speak to suspects, review clues and attempt to piece together the truth.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 at the Legion on Saturday, with the first scripted scene beginning at 7 p.m. Both food and drink will be available for purchase throughout the performance.

A prize will be available for the table which manages to correctly determine the murderer of the evening, and while there is no associated prize for arriving best dressed, 1960s attire is encouraged.
