The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is getting ahead of the holiday rush with its first birdseed order of the season. “Whether you participate in project FeederWatch, the Christmas Bird Count from your backyard feeder, or simply enjoy watching the birds – we have something for everyone to enjoy,” said Rhys Mah Poy, park interpreter. The seeds available are from Chin Ridge Seeds Ltd., with multiple options available, from peanuts or sunflower chips to varieties designed to entice chickadees and nuthatches. Those interested can call the Nature Centre at 403-529-6225, fill out a form at the centre in person, or complete a form online, found at facebook.com/policepointpark. This is a fundraiser for MHIP and also helps support local feathered friends. “If you are new to bird watching, or would like to improve your backyard bird identification, having a bird feeder is a great place to begin the journey,” said Mah Poy. “With fall approaching, and the change of weather not too far away, our local and migrating birds may be grateful for a boost to their feeding.” 6
