Hatters will see a slight increase to their natural gas bill as September’s default rate moves to $0.791 GJ, up from August’s rate of $0.642 GJ.

September is the last month of this quarter’s calculated electricity rate from July to September, set at $0.05269 kWh, however under the local electric utility bylaw, this rate defaults to $0.07000 per kWh for farm, small and medium commercial, unmetered service and rental lighting customers.

This rate is based on a year-long volume weighted forecast per the ICE-NGX wholesale electricity energy market and will be recalculated Oct. 1.

Large commercial and industrial customers, as well as street lighting, will be rated at $0.12025 kWh this month, and is a fixed rate that is expected to remain in place until the end of 2026 and is comparative to ENMAX, EPCOR and Direct Energy Regulated Services.

Additionally, all customers will pay a “Going Green” surcharge on their bills rated at $0.0040 kWh this month. This surcharge goes toward costs incurred to purchase renewable energy.
