newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Unison at Veiner Centre is hosting two additional day trips to the Rosebud Theatre, planned in October and December. The first trip will take passengers to a performance of “The Green House” on Oct. 8. That includes a buffet lunch and round-trip transportation and a ticket to the play, which touches on family, memory and rediscovery. “In this bold new play, Susanne unravels a long-buried family mystery filled with foreboding dreams, a sole survivor and a harrowing escape,” reads a promotional ad posted by the Veiner Centre. Tickets are on sale at a cost of $125 for members and $140 for non-members. There are still more than 20 spaces left. Closer to the holidays in December, the Veiner Centre will be hosting a day trip to see the holiday classic “Miracle of 34th Street.” The day trip is planned for Dec. 3 and passengers will also travel to the Rosebud Theatre for the show and a buffet lunch. Craft night Crafters can get into the fall season by creating a pumpkin at the Veiner Centre’s next craft night, Sept. 4. September Craft Night runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Craft Room, and participants will be making a “beautiful pumpkin.” The cost of material is $32 and crafters are asked to register at the reception desk, or by calling the number above. The Bistro will be open for dinner and drinks. Yoga On Sept. 5, the Veiner Centre will continue its Active Aging classes by hosting a demo Yin Yoga class open to everyone aged 50 and over. Yin Yoga focuses on targeting the connective tissues by applying positive stress to the deep tissues. The moderate practice involves gentle movements and holding postures for up to four minutes, and is suitable for everyone. The demo class runs from noon to 1 p.m.. Eight additional sessions are planned throughout September and October. Registration is required and participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat. Community Kitchen The Veiner Centre Community Kitchen program is back this October for low-income seniors. The program offers seniors who earn $30,000 a year or less the opportunity to cook nutritious meals and build a community at the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub.
