newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Brooks RCMP are asking for public assistance in identifying the driver of a grey or silver Volkswagen with damage on the driver’s side, after a 30-year-old man from Andrew was fatality struck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Tilley early Monday morning. Mounties responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Highway 1 near Range Road No. 131 shortly after 4 a.m. Upon arrival, the deceased man was discovered on the side of the road. Police believe the deceased man hit an animal while driving and pulled over to check his vehicle when he was hit by another vehicle, which did not remain on scene. Mounties say there is a reason to believe a grey or silver Volkswagen was involved and will have noticeable damage on the driver’s side. RCMP are asking for any dash-cam video or eye witness reports in the area from between midnight to 4:30 a.m. Witnesses are asked to contact the Brooks detachment at 403-794-4400, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477. Andrew is a village with a population fewer than 400 people located northeast of Edmonton. 9
