An initiative of Invasives Canada invites residents to an upcoming bioblitz, a citizen science opportunity.

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program and Youth Eco-Stewards are partnering to offer a guided walk on Sept. 3 at noon, to teach those interested how to participate in their self-guided bioblitz in Police Point Park. Those attending will meet at the Nature Centre, and the walk is expected to take roughly two hours.

A bioblitz is a project which aims to collect observations of as many different species as possible during a set time, to create a snapshot of the variety of life found in an area and contribute to a citizen science project that supports researchers.

This BioBlitz uses iNaturalist, a mobile app that allows you to upload observations directly to our Biodiversity hunt project, and will run for three full weeks, Sept. 3-24.

Participants can also enter a ballot for a prize draw that will take place at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park on Sept. 25.
