Catholic school division announces back to school schedule

Grade 1-12 Catholic students will return to class on Wednesday, Sept. 3, while kindergarten and Early Learning programs will begin Friday, Sept. 5.

On Monday, the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education released updates to its school calendar, school bus and bell schedule, as well as information on the free My First Ride event for students taking the school bus for the first time.

Bell times for all Catholic schools can be found on the MHCBE website. Students are reminded to come to school prepared to take notes with paper and pens or pencils as their class supply lists will be distributed by teachers on their first day.

The My First Ride event begins at 9 a.m. Aug. 18 at St. Francis School, and then moves to Ecole St. John Paul II School at noon.

The event is free and will provide students bus safety tips as well as advice for parents. The event will take participants roughly one hour to complete and children must be accompanied by an adult throughout.

Additionally information on school bus routes, pickup/drop-off locations and times, as well as PD days, holidays and daytime childcare can be accessed online.
