asmith@medicinehatnews.com Gardeners can bring a small soil sample down to the Nature Centre next week, to help learn how to build a greater garden from the ground up. On Aug. 5, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is hosting a pop-up Soil Testing for Gardeners station at the trail in front of the centre from 2-3 p.m., to dig into how and why soil testing can help gardens grow. “Bring a sample of garden soil, approximately one cup, and a straight-sided jar with a lid for some fun, hands-on learning about some of the ways to test and improve the soil in your own backyard,” said park interpreter Erika Derman. This program requires no registration and is free to attend, but donations are always welcome. 6
