A male and female, who have not been named, have been arrested and charged with possession of approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, illegal cigarettes and a weapon.

Last Monday, July 21, shortly before 8 p.m. a peace officer conducted a traffic stop after watching a vehicle proceed through an intersection in an unsafe manner.

During the traffic stop, the officer witnessed open alcohol in the vehicle and called Brooks RCMP for assistance with a possible impaired driver.

Once RCMP attended the scene and arrested both the male and female suspects, they performed a subsequent search of the vehicle that led to the discovery of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, cartons of illegal cigarettes and a pair of brass knuckles.

The male suspect has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The female suspect has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. Additionally she has been issued a fine of $1,200 for the possession of illegal tobacco products.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear before court on Oct. 29.

RCMP seeking man who spit on woman

Despite extensive patrols, Brooks RCMP say they are still searching for a male suspect who allegedly spit on a woman and broke her cellphone during an altercation outside a hotel.

Just after midnight on Friday police received a 911 call for threats being made outside the Heritage Inn and found a female victim upon arrival who reported being approached by a white male in his 40s with a French accent.

A verbal altercation occurred near the female’s truck where the male suspect allegedly spat on both the woman and her vehicle before breaking her cellphone.

Police say the male then fled the area on foot heading southbound on Second Street W and the investigation is ongoing.

Minor injury MVC

One driver has been issued violation tickets following a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks last Thursday morning that caused minor injuries.

RCMP were called to the scene at 7 a.m. on July 24 after a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, causing a collision.

The driver responsible was issued violation tickets for failing to remain at the scene.

Brooks Fire and EMS responded to attend occupants on scene.
