The City of Medicine Hat is offering the addition of six free parking stalls in the Towne Square parking lot. The City of Medicine Hat’s Economic Development Department announced Thursday they have opened six two-hour, free parking stalls in the Towne Square parking lot. The new free spots are located in the South East section of the lot, clearly marked by signage. The stalls offer two-hour free parking Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Outside of those hours and on the weekend, the entire Towne Square parking lot remains free to the public. “Creating a vibrant downtown means removing barriers and finding new ways to encourage people to linger, explore, and engage with local businesses,” Director of Medicine Hat Economic Development Selena McLean-Moore said in a release. “These additional short-term parking spaces are just one example of how we’re investing in innovative approaches to build a more accessible and thriving city core.” The city says the initiative will be in effect until the end of 2026. 7
