asmith@medicinehatnews.com Cypress County offered clarification in regards to last week’s declaration of an agricultural state of disaster. Cypress County is clarifying that it is not aware of any provincial or federal relief programs currently in place for producers, as their original release stated that allows producers to access provincial and federal relief programs. “We can understand how the release might have misinformed the public and apologize for not being clearer. While the state of disaster does help access relief programs, it’s only if such programs are active and accessible in the first place,” said Cypress County. They clarified the intent was to communicate that declaring the agricultural state of disaster allows producers to more quickly work with insurance claims and take action regarding crops. Cypress County apologizes for any concerns regarding the agricultural state of disaster. 7
