The Prairie Pride Guild of Medicine Hat and District is partnering with the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program to round out the summer with a nature walk to remember.

Guided by Park Interpreter Genevieve Mathieu, participants will learn all about local plant and animal life through the lens of queer ecology, celebrating the diverse natural world, said the Pride Guild.

The walk, which will take place on Aug. 24 starting at 11 a.m at the Police Point Park Nature Centre, is all ages, and is completely free of charge, but space is limited and registration is required for those attending. Anyone interested in participating is asked to email prairieprideguild@gmail.com with their name and the number of people in their group, though they add that children under four do not count towards capacity.

“Following the nature walk, we will gather around the fire pit for a free hot dog and marshmallow roast,” said the Guild. “If you prefer to skip the walk but still want to take part in the communal lunch, feel free to join us.”

No registration is required for the roast.

The walk itself is expected to take about an hour, and is outdoors, so they ask participants to plan and dress accordingly.
